The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of around 162,000 HP Li-Ion battery packs. These battery packs were sold with HP and Compaq brand notebooks. According to the recall notice, HP has recently received around 40 reports that chronicled overheated and ruptured batteries, which resulted in numerous burn injuries, smoke inhalation injuries, and instances of property damage. It is recommended that consumers stop using the batteries immediately as they pose a fire risk and burn hazard.
