Advice for Those Injured and Families of Those Wrongfully Killed After a Crash
Those injured, and the families of those killed in Missouri car accidents are immediately focused on funeral arrangements and the overwhelming grieving process. Nothing could be more rational and necessary. But be aware that the insurance company for the responsible party is immediately having their adjusters and investigators gather all evidence they think is important. It is equally important that you have someone working for you to make sure all evidence is gathered and an honest story is told.
When the time comes for the victim, or the families of those killed, to make a claim for reimbursement for their loss, evidence is often lost or destroyed. Many injury victims and wrongful death claimants assume the insurance company is providing a fair assessment of the case. As an injury trial lawyer, I can tell you this is far from accurate. The fact of the matter is that insurance companies operate for a profit. Not just a good profit, but a multibillion dollar a year profit. These profits are generated by taking in more money in premiums than they pay out in injury claims. The corporate insurance machine has an interest in paying less for your injuries in order to make a larger profit.
I illustrate that point to motivate action. I want those injured and the families of those killed to understand that they need someone on their side immediately after the crash. They need someone who is looking out for their best interests and gathering evidence which will show the true story of how the crash occurred. Not just the evidence which shows why the case is not worth as much as the victims need.
No one wants to deal with this side of the case immediately after the crash, and no one should. However, our system is setup in a manner which requires the injured victim to prove their case to the appropriate legal standard. Failing to gather evidence immediately after a crash, take pictures, perform testing and conduct the necessary investigation can have devastating effects on your ability to later bring a claim. Hiring an injury lawyer requires no out of pocket expenses or money upfront. There is also no fee for our services unless we win your case.
