Jefferson County, MO Car Crash

In a collision reported Friday evening on US 67 south in Jefferson County, two people were left seriously injured. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver of the first vehicle, Sherri Price, was in the right lane of US 67 in a Chevrolet Malibu traveling south. The driver of the second vehicle, David Prosser, of Desoto, was in the left lane in a Chevrolet truck, when Price attempted to change lanes and struck the rear of Prosser’s vehicle.

Prosser, 46, sustained serious injuries from this unfortunate car accident, and was taken to Mercy Jefferson Hospital by ambulance.  Sherri Price, of Cadet, Missouri, was also transferred to Mercy Jefferson Hospital with injuries.  The two were immediately injured as both vehicles flew off of the left side of the roadway and overturned in the median.  Fortunately both drivers were wearing seat belts, but that was not enough to protect them from injuries.  The damage to both of the vehicles is noted as totaled.

Similarly, an unrelated single car injury Saturday afternoon in Washington County also left two individuals injured.  On Highway U near Hopewell Road, Dylan Luttrell, of Kaiser, and Mindy Marler, of Potosi, both sustained moderate to severe injuries.  Missouri State Highway Patrol Reports state that the crash occurred when when Luttrel failed to negotiate a right curve.  He was driving a 1991 Ford Explorer which veered off of the road and overturned in a ditch.  The Missouri State Troopers reported that neither occupant was wearing their seat belt, and that the vehicle was totaled.  Both Luttrell and Marler were transported to Washington Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Jefferson County, Missouri is home to some of Missouri’s most dangerous roads.  Route 21, for example, is known as the one of the largest sites of fatal crashes in the state.  This section of Route 21 known as “Blood Alley” or “Missouri’s Most Dangerous Highway” (as featured in Reader’s Digest) is known for its narrow, winding roads, unable to handle increased traffic.
