Early Crash Closes I-44 West in Eureka, Missouri

At approximately 5:00 a.m., on September 27, 2012, dense fog led to a fatal crash which occurred on I-44 West near Six Flags, in Eureka, Missouri. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a vehicle became disabled in the middle of westbound Interstate 44, when a tractor-trailer driver suddenly noticed the vehicle and swerved. The tractor trailer truck then clipped the rear of the stalled vehicle. The St. Louis tractor trailer accident resulted in the semi-truck overturning and killing the driver of the truck. Traffic was jammed for miles following the collision.

Fog is a common occurrence and requires motorists to be on high alert. Speeds should be reduced to avoid tragic situations such as this. A driver should always ensure they have the appropriate distance in order to stop their vehicle, especially when visibility is reduced. If you have been injured in a St. Louis tractor trailer accident, contact a Eureka injury accident lawyer immediately.
